OPD Movement Legacy Program

The O.P.D. Movement Legacy Program is a comprehensive, literacy based, social-academic  program that consists of 4 components: 1.) A foundational novel called "You Down With O.P.D.?" 2.) An Academic Language Arts curriculum (workbook and teacher manual) that corresponds with the novel 3.) A Social Curriculum based on the novel's themes 4.) A culminating writing project. The program content is accessible and designed for students in grades 7-12.

The O.P.D. Movement Legacy Program has 4 implementation models:

1. Course model

-A design that can be delivered as semester course.

2. After-School model

-A design that can be implemented as an after school program.

3. Summer model

-A design that can be implemented as a 5 week summer program.

4. Saturday model

-A design that can be implemented as a Saturday program.

Each model has in-person or remote versions.

Novel

The story is an urban novel containing content accessible to "minority" teenagers in grades 7-12. Through relatable characters and vivid storytelling, the novel imparts principles of success in a way that resonates with students.

Academic Curriculum

The Academic (Language Arts) Curriculum consists of a workbook that is designed like a magazine. The workbook contains before-during-and after reading activities that develop students' reading and analytical skills. The content is designed for remote and in-person learning.

Social Curriculum

The Social curriculum consists of 12 lessons that explore themes from the novel through a Social Emotional Learning framework. The lessons are interactive, and they are designed for both remote and in-person learning.

Writing Project
